Snowdrift Elite

Snowdrift began as a competition entry for the Envo Next Move Competition. Participants were encouraged to pursue a design in one of 6 areas.

Out of 382 entries, Snowdrift Elite was among the top 50 designs chosen for further evaluation.

Early Sketches
Nov 2022

I utilized an underlay to explore the geometry of existing products

Frame Exploration
Nov 2022

I continued to explore different body shapes, expanding the body into the area freed up by the lack of a front wheel.

Competition Submission
Dec 2022

I created a rough CAD model as a template to guide my render for submission into the competition.

Advancement Notification
Late Jan 2023

I was notified by competition officials that I was one of the top 50 designs selected to advance. I began revisions by looking for places to reduce weight.

First Revisions
Early Feb 2023

I played around with several designs, and ultimately brought back an earlier iteration that was a balance between my original shape and reduced weight.

Fusion Build
Mid-Feb 2023

Learning a new skill often requires learning the digital tools that are used in the craft of that skill. I taught myself Fusion360 to generate and develop my next iterations, moving from a general shape idea and adding details as I progressed.

Final Submissions
Late Feb 2023

Finalizing the model was satisfying, as I had overcome a technical challenge, and learned a great deal in the process.
